My family, Laurie, Brielle, Maya, Desta and I (Andrew) along with my parents, David and Anne operate a century family farm in south east Saskatchewan.
Johnson Livestock consists of 5000 acres of hay and pasture land with a small rotation of feed grains to keep the hay land fresh. Cattle have always been the main focus here at JL but in the fall of 2004 we purchased our first registered Angus females. Now, spring of 2011 we have had four successful bull and female sales, made embryo sales, and exported females. More importantly we have watched our genetics go out and make an impact for their new owners. We have aggressively sought out both proven and new Angus genetics, and have put together a large herd of hard working females. In the spring of 2011 we will registered over 550 JL calves and it is very exciting now that we can start to see type of cattle we are striving to produce. We want to produce large sire groups of consistent, efficient cattle and for that reason we have been very careful in our sire selection. We have always believed the fastest and most cost effective way to shape a cow herd is in bull selection. We have went out and selected the bulls we thought could do that for us, and then purchased them. We also AI to a select group of sires, so that we can ratio our own herdbulls against them. This allows us to have more proven and up to date EPD's.
Each spring we hold a bull and female sale on the farm near Peebles, Saskatchewan. Johnson Livestock is committed to the cattle industry and looks forward to working with you.
