Monthly Archives: November 2009Monday we weaned off the May and June calving purebred cows. This was the last group of about 90 pairs to wean this season. These calves will go in with the summer flush calves as soon as they are done with the weaning process. This group has been running on stubble the last 6-7 weeks so the... It is a really odd feeling to be putting equipment in the quonset, while the weather is still so nice, but we have been able to do that this year. We are still trying to drain a few sloughs with the scraper, but most everything else is in storage for winter. Cows are still grazing... Should finish the corn silage Thursday morning. We will end up win about 2000 ton so it wasn’t as good as we though it was. Overall the custom guys said the Saskatchewan corn yields have been a few ton per acre lower this year and that ours was one of the best they had done... Well after a month off I finally got to bale again today. Just some straw but it looks like we might be able to do some hay next week if the forecast hold true.
