Category Archives: Calving Angus has long been known for their calving ease. I have gone through the sale lots and made an attempt to group the bulls according to how I believe they will calve. It was -42C with the windchill this am, but the calves were still playing around enjoying the sun.  We moved the first 130 pairs into the bush. The snow is fairly deep but the pairs still seem to spread out and pick around. There is always protection from the wind, and they don’t seem to pile up as bad. We still will spread straw out everyday so they can get off the snow... Dad was at the SAV sale today, and once again it broke records. The lead off bull and heifer both brought $400,000. 479 bulls averaged a record $12775. As usual the place was packed with Angus enthusiasts, and many people went home without their bull picks. As good as this sale was, we believe next...  Once a day I try to do a walk through of the new calves.
